Faery Wings:
Basic faery wings are super easy... Take a length of wire (I use wire about as thick as a coat hanger) cut the wire long enough to make one wing or if you want small wings you can make two wings out of the same piece. Now simply bend the wire into the shape you want your wings. Cover the wings in pantyhose, yes pantyhose. The colored knee highs are my favorites to use. stretch the nylons over your wing structure. You will need to be able to wear them, Use two small pieces of felt and sew the wings to them and attach elastic bands to the felt for arm loops. You can use glitter paint to make design or veining on them. These have my daughters name on them in silver glitter!
Blood recipe:
THIS WILL STAIN BE CAREFUL!!!
You will need
- 1 pint of clear corn syrup
- 100 drops red food coloring
- 1/4 cup of water
- 8 drops blue food coloring
Yes it's that easy! Just mix them together if you don't use the blue it will look like Kool-Aid. If you want to make it a little thicker add 1/4 cup of sifted flour. This is the blood you'll want to use as a vampire, it tastes great and is non toxic.

I didn't add flour to the blood. in photos above, notice it is fairly thin. Another option is to use blue laundry detergent with red food coloring it washes off easier and won't attract bugs like a sugar based blood does . (note I say easier, this will stain and will not wash off of clothes)

Homemade Face Make Up:
1 tsp cornstarch 1/2 tsp water 1/2 tsp cold cream food coloring
Stir together starch and cold cream until well blended. Add water and stir, then add food coloring. APPLICATION Wash your face and any area that you will be applying the makeup to. Dry thoroughly. Use fingertips to spread onto large areas. Use a small paint brush to paint designs on face. Removes with soap and water. Store in airtight container.
BURNS :
Burns are great fun to play with. Not only do they look realistic but the blister will burst if handled too roughly.
- Firstly redden the area using a damp fingertip and red watercolor
- Apply a dollop (technical term here) of Vaseline to the area and shape it into a blister shape.
- Place a piece of tissue over the Vaseline and very carefully rub it until the Vaseline soaks in and turns the tissue transparent.
- Very carefully, tear away the excess tissue and smooth the ragged edges into the Vaseline.
Tips
- Play around with the red paint before adding the Vaseline to produce a really nasty burn.

Skeletal hands:
First, cut and bend coat hangar wire into the shape of a long hand with each length of wire being a finger. Then place masking tape balls approximately 1/4 inch in diameter where all the knuckles ought to be. Lay strips of masking tape down the fingers and crumple into place. All you have to do now is paint appropriately and, voila, hands. These look great coming out of the ground around the tombstones. If you want an entire arm, take two lengths of hanger wire approximately the length from the fingertip to the elbow and substitute them for two fingers. Put tape balls where the elbow joint would be and wrap with strips of tape as described above.

Glowing ghost:
This ghost is easy to make, I used a plastic skull as the head, then attached wire for arms (coat hanger gage). I bought 4 yards of cheesecloth and soaked it in RIT whitener, After it was dry I stretched it over the wire frame and skull, then tattered the edges to give it a wispy look. The whitener makes it glow under blacklight.

More to come!
